Divorces in the State of Tennessee can range from fairly simple ID divorces to complex, contested divorces, involving children or property or both. Generally speaking, there is a sixty (60) day waiting period from when the Complaint is filed for divorces without children. There is a ninety (90) day waiting period for divorces with children. With an ID divorce, most everything is agreed upon, and you eith stipulate to divorce or file a Marital Dissolution Agreement and handle it before the Judge after the sixty (60) day period has passed. If there are issues with children and or property, then it is possible that there are interrogatories and / or depositions. We find that, often times, mediation can be a very effective tool.
